What does an Enterprise Architect at Coolblue do?

As an Enterprise Architect Customer Facing, or as we like to call it: Customer Facing Engineering Boss, you are responsible for our software architecture and landscape of the Customer Facing area. Including strategic planning and execution. The Customer Facing area entails any software that is used by our customers or needed to serve the customer facing environment. This includes our mobile app, webshop, store applications, self service content, energy, recruitment website and frontend design system.

If you are more interested in Back Office architecture, please have a look at the Enterprise Architect Back Office Area vacancy.

Based on our strategic business goals, you define the most suitable Customer Facing Engineering architecture. You will ensure that our 20+ Customer Facing Development teams use technology, programming languages, principles, blueprints and guidelines that enable scalability, increase speed of delivery or reduce maintenance costs. In addition, you are able to communicate clearly about this at various levels. From proposing to management about yearly goals or promising new technology, to evangelizing principles, blueprints and guidelines to our entire development population. This way you ensure these are successfully implemented in each of our 300+ daily software releases.

Furthermore, you initiate, organize and supervise implementation of new (strategic) software engineering technologies and projects like MicroFrontends. You utilize the knowledge of the full Development community and support bottom-up initiatives. And more importantly, you get these initiatives done. You challenge Principal Developers on their architectural choices and contribution to the Development teams and ensure that these align with your Engineering goals and the business needs.

As Enterprise Architect, you are part of the Software Engineering Board, which steers and decides upon domain overarching Software Engineering projects, like geographical expansion to Germany. In the board you represent Customer Facing Engineering, by creating proposals for new initiatives, reporting on the planning and performance of your area. You'll bring your expertise to the table on overarching topics.

Want to know more?

  • Does Coolblue offer a hybrid workplace?

Working at the office makes us happy, that’s why we are working partly from home and partly from the office.

  • Can I keep developing myself?

Coolblue University: learning at Coolblue, in a different way.

With over 30 training courses in our own Coolblue University, you can get a little bit better every day. At Coolblue, we go back to school sometimes. But not by sitting there quietly and just listening. The training courses aren't boring, but interactive. You have to do exercises and have discussions with others. At the Coolblue University, we choose what we want to learn, so we can continue to develop en become real experts. For example, a Delivery Driver needs different training courses than a Customer Service Employe and a starter needs different courses than a manager.
