Junior Network Engineer

As Junior Network Engineer at Coolblue, you build the infrastructure that allows Coolblue to deliver packages to their customers on time.

    Pros and cons

    • You make sure support systems always function properly to keep the infrastructure up and running.
    • You and your team work hands-on on design, implementation, and delivery of all Coolblue locations.
    • You initiate changes to make the infrastructure a little better every day.
    • You present your ideas in a way that everyone can understand, both your technical and non-technical colleagues.
    • If you fail, you have to treat everyone to fail waffles (read: stroopwafels).

You start the day trying to find out how we can create a solution for Weena (main office) with 802.1x central WiFi authentication & dynamic VLAN assignment. Because WiFi is being used more and more, we'll have to segment the networks better. After some research, you've found some ideas to make this a reality. You write out the options so you and the team can decide which option it's going to be immediately after the standup.

Your colleague's been working on configuring the network equipment that needs to be used at the XXL store in Gent. After subjecting the setup and a number of tests, it's time to have lunch with a few colleagues.

After that, it's time for the standup with the team. During the standup, you discuss the options you've found earlier that day with the team, and together, you decide which option it'll be. You create a story for the next sprint, so it can be included in the refinement later this week.

During the afternoon, you begin preparations for the work planned for later that week.

    Your specifications

    • Hands-on experience in maintaining, and troubleshooting (wireless) networks in office environments. Experience in large warehouses/logistics centers is a plus!
    • CCNA certified.
    • Besides having in-depth technical knowledge, you're also strong in terms of communication, cooperation, and you have a ‘just do it' mentality.
    • You have a valid category B driver's license.

    Included by default

    • Money.
    • With over 30 training courses in our own Coolblue University, you can become a little better every day.
    • A discount on all our products.
    • A picture-perfect office at a great location. You could crawl to work from Rotterdam Central Station. Though we recommend just walking for 2 minutes.
    • 25 leave days. As long as you promise to come back.
    • Travel allowance and a retirement plan.
    • A horizontal organization in the broadest sense. You could just go and have a beer with the boss.
    • An extraordinarily good work environment, including freshly made snacks, monthly drinks at our own bar, legendary Coolblue parties, awesome team activities, and an informal, playful department.
