We design our meeting rooms ourselves. First, we set up an online brainstorm with all Coolbluers who’ll start working at a new location. After the brainstorm session, our meeting room designers go through the ideas to see if there’s a common trend, and if it isn’t too expensive to realize them. We spend a lot of time designing the meeting rooms. We make them authentic by tracking down unique furniture or creating our own from scratch.
De DijkDe Dijk is based on the cafe on the Oudedijk in Rotterdam where the idea for Coolblue was born. You’ll find De Dijk in all our Coolblue offices. In Rotterdam you’ll find the real table 7 from Cafe De Dijk, a gift from Coolblue to Pieter, Paul, and Bart on the company’s 10th anniversary.
De KattenbakNot all of meeting room ideas come from Coolbluers. We asked our fans to come up with an idea for one as well. The result? De Kattenkamer! (The Cat Room). We didn’t hesitate, and bought € 300 worth of Hello Kitty items, waving cat statues, and a huge table in the shape of a scratching post. Last but not least, we hung a large number of cat pictures we received from customers on the wall for our cat wall of fame. We’re not kitten you right meow. Central PerkCoolbluers came up with the idea of a Central Perk meeting room for the Millennium tower office. It didn’t become a meeting room in the end, but it did become a canteen. Including the Central Perk sofa. SinksenfoorOne of the most popular meeting rooms in our Belgian headquarters is the Sinksenfoor, named after a popular fair in Antwerp. A ferris wheel unfortunately didn’t fit inside the room, and you can’t really purchase cotton candy; but you can play a game of hook-a-duck after a meeting. Pretty sweet. FrituurA Belgian headquarters without a reference to fries? We couldn’t let that happen. The Frituur is inspired by the iconic Frituur n°1, a fries shop in the heart of Antwerp. In the meeting room, you’ll find the dish ‘Patatje Pieter’ and slogans such as “we fry it, even if we don’t have it” on the menu and signs. You’ll need to imagine the smell of fries when you enter, though.
Santa’s officeBecause Sinterklaas works with us on an ad sinterim basis every year, we gave him his very own office. Shortly after, we received a call from Lapland. It was Santa Claus, and he wasn’t too happy. He argued that we do great business with him every year as well, right? So he deserves his own office, too. Can’t argue with that.
